My sister, Marlow did the sweetest thing today. She called in to Yes 933 to sing and to dedicate a song, especially for me and said her piece heartfelt words. I was really very touched and I teared a little.
Awws.
Sorry Marlow, I can't promise you I won't further my studies abroad, but I will try to shelf it off temporarily, for this year at least; until the end of your O levels. I want to be there to give you my two cents worth of advise when you are stuck between studying at a polytechnic and junior college, share your joy when you pass your O levels with flying colours, and to guide you well so you won't be led astray.
This were the reasons why I did not fly off to Australia earlier this year when a few renowned universities there offered me a vacancy.
I just can't leave in peace when I have a sister who's always so playful and mischevious, and another who's so dependent and pampered. If I can, I would have 打包ed all of you over, however that's not possible in reality. Even if I leave, I will leave with a heavy burden. It's no fun being the eldest amongst your siblings.
Sighs.
Why are Singapore universities' courses so limited? Why are they so academically focused (That really makes me wonder how Singapore can 'produce' more talents who have a niche in creativity. Then again, our MM Lee mentioned that being creative is a talent itself; you can't exactly be trained to be creative)? Why are they so stringent about their pre-requisites? Why are they so biased against polytechnic students?
Singapore's universities really remind me of a factory in production, especially when I think of the number of graduates they produce from School of Business. They are just mass producing graduates and offering courses that are largely popular and common.
If not for the above reasons, I would have been a very happy undergraduate in Singapore & all my worries will be halved.
Sighs.
